Sourcing
Coburn Fasteners find the right component, at the right cost, without compromising on quality. Whether you need a standard part at competitive pricing, or a hard-to-find, long-lead item that other suppliers have struggled to secure, we identify the source, verify it meets specification, and ensure it is certified and traceable
Every component we source is quality-assured through dimensional inspection, material verification and mechanical test reporting, and held in stock for the life of the part, protecting your production line against obsolescence and design change.
Optimal Procurement is more about finding a supplier who can create a quote. It's about matching the material and process to the actual duty the part needs to perform, rather than over-specifying to a higher grade than the application requires. Across the polymers and composites we source, we help customers navigate the difference between commodity, engineering and high-performance material tiers, so unit cost and lead time stay under control. This supports total cost of ownership, not just unit price.
We also rationalise ranges where over-specification has crept in. One customer came to us with a fault on a PEEK component and found they were running multiple material variants across their range without clear justification. Working across three core PEEK types (Virgin, Glass Filled 30% and Carbon Filled 30%) and three manufacturing methods (Injection Moulding, Dynamic Cast Moulding and Extrusion), we consolidated this into nine clearly defined, documented combinations.
When specified by the customer, every sourced part goes through full PPAP testing: dimensional inspection, material verification and mechanical test reporting, with full traceability and certification. Once a source is proven, we hold the part in stock, so a change in your specification doesn't leave you exposed to a supply gap.
Our sourcing capability spans standard fasteners through to specialist high-performance polymers and composites, including PEEK, PEI, PPS and PVDF, alongside metals and specialist alloys. We work across sectors where component specification is safety (or performance) critical, including oil and gas - where we currently serve many of our customers with thousands of unique historical part numbers on record - where design changes are frequent and long lead times on the wrong component can stop a production line.
Under-specified components fail. Over-specified ones cost more and take longer to source than they need to. Both are risks a procurement team is measured on. We manage this balance directly and simplify procurement, reducing the need for you to onboard multiple suppliers.

If you're struggling to source a standard part at the right cost, a long-lead item that's hard to find, or having issues with an incorrectly specified range, send us your requirement or your current parts list. We'll identify the right source, verify it to specification, and get it certified, traceable and stocked.
